The adobe documentaion: http://docs.adobe.com/docs/en/crx/2-3/how_to/webdav_access.html misleads you with regard to the port. Use the default port of 4502 and you'll find it works. Mapping the windows explorer works too in windows 7. I changed the registry entry, not sure if that was required or not. Found cyberduck  now has a windows version :), I used that whilst trying to get it to work as an alternative to native windows. It picked up the webdav port running on localhost when I selected that protocol. It gave me the hint I needed!

What a nightmare... I've tried installing linux, to boot from a USB, a fair few times with not a lot of success but at last I've nailed it :) Not without a final big balls up along the way, however! When it comes to the part of the installer where it asks you if and where to install grub (or whatever bootloader) be blooming sure of what you are doing. I can't remember what the exact options were or what I selected but I ended up in the senario where windows would not boot unless the USB was plugged in. If I started the machine without the USB plugged in the you'd see "Welcome to GRUB" and then it complain about not finding some files or another. Basically I think I somehow ended up with Grubs config files on the stick instead of on the HD of the laptop. So after booting off the USB, installing grubs files on it, how to get the PC running windows by default??? (So the wife and kids are happy?) Has to dig out the Vista install disk and repair the MBR...

If the above happens, switch off any real-time antivirus protection. That should do it :)

I stayed up far too long last night figuring this out, so a post is warranted. VMware Fusion 3.1.3 on Mac 10.6.8 running Debian 5 (lenny) VM. NAT working fine but for some reason it just wouldn't work in bridged mode. I was trawling the t'internet for reasons why when it dawned on me, after reading that for some folk it worked with wired internet, but not wirelessly. If your wireless network is locked down to MAC addresses (access control) then your VM running in bridge mode won't be able to pick up an IP address because... ...it has a different MAC address! Obvious isn't it... grrrrr. I wanted to run in bridged (always used NAT before) so I could connect to services run by the guest OS from the host. I was playing with vnc4server and trying to connect to debian using the Mac Screen Sharing built in app. As an aside don't bother, the base install already comes with remote desktop (vino) which must get in the way as I had all sorts of difficulty. Command line tools, gotta love em, but of you don't use them on a regular basis; how to remember everything? I need to get to grips with a built in terminal editor: vim or emacs? (if anyone decides to start yet another flame war on the back of this don't bother...) I uses nano/pico but that's somewhat limited and as less uses vim navigation it seems another push towards using vim. I bought a new printer. Was fairly tricky to get it to play wireless ball on my network but got there in the end. (It didn't seem to want to wake on LAN) However, when my daughter went to print out her homework, how frustrated was I to find it appear to hang Word, if not make it run like a dog? After a few hours of Googling and switching back an forth beteen accounts I eventually find that Parental Controls were getting in the way of the printer driver!! Bypassing Word completely even when I tried to get printer preferences from the printer list it would take around 2-3mins to fetch the screen!!! Switch off Parental Controls and what do you know? All thoes attempts to 'repair' office and re-install drivers just to find ParCon getting in the way. Grrr Swift email off to Samsung in the hope someone might read it and fix it. I guess the driver must use http or some other affected protocol to go and lookup the printer parameters. This was happening everytime you opene...
